Planning a wedding sounds exciting… until you start looking for a photographer. With getting married myself this year, I feel your pain! You start by looking through Google in your local area, and it is swarmed with sponsored ads for photographers in other parts of the country. You move onto Instagram and try there but you're influenced by Pinterest. Suddenly is becomes overwhelming as your wedding planning list seems never-ending! All you want is a photographer who provides their availability, portfolios and transparent pricing (with no unforeseen costs and without subscribing to their bloody newsletters!!).

It’s a lot.

And honestly? It shouldn’t be that complicated.

Choosing a wedding photographer is a big decision—not just because of the cost, but because you’re trusting someone to capture moments you can’t redo. You deserve to know exactly what to expect, how the process works, and what you’re actually paying for before you commit. It shouldn't be a case of booking and in 1-2 years later having a photographer turn up to your wedding day to take nice photos.

So this isn’t just another “here’s what I do” post.

This is a clear, honest breakdown of what working with a wedding photographer (and specifically me!) should feel like—from first enquiry to final gallery—so you can make the right decision for you, whether that’s me or someone else.

The process from morning prep to the dancefloor

Before your wedding

Once you’ve had a look around my website and checked out my simple, transparent pricing, you can view my live availability in the “book” section. That way, you can skip the wait and keep ticking things off your wedding to-do list.

Once your provisional booking is made, I’ll get in touch in a way that suits you to arrange a call or meet-up. We’ll chat through your plans, your vibe, and what matters most so I can understand how your day will naturally unfold.

If you’re feeling awkward about being in front of the camera—good. That’s most of my couples. I’ll guide you through everything so nothing feels forced.

And at this point - if you're happy to have me - we can discuss securing your date by issuing a contract and invoice for your retainer payment. I am then truly yours!

planning and timeline support

It’s not just about booking a photographer and seeing them on the day—your timeline plays a huge role in your photos, and it’s easy for things to feel a bit uncoordinated.

I’ll help plan key moments like portraits, group shots, and breathing space so you get the photos you want without stress (and don’t miss anyone your Great Auntie Deborah!).

the morning of your wedding

I like to arrive a little early to get familiar with your space and meet everyone, so things feel relaxed from the start. While everything unfolds, I capture the natural, in-between moments, your carefully chosen details and quietly keep things on track without adding any pressure.

Having a relationship with everyone and being comfortable whilst shooting, contributes hugely to the final gallery.

the ceremony: blending in and not taking over

During your ceremony, I keep things as unobtrusive as possible. No interrupting. No staging. No making it about the photos.

Just real moments—your reactions, your people, the atmosphere—captured as they happen.

After the Ceremony: Group Shots Without the Stress

Group photos are important—but they don’t need to take over your day.

I’ll keep things organised and efficient, help gather people with one of your trusting assistants (so you don’t have to) and get the shots as quickly as possible so you can get back to enjoying your wedding

Couple Portraits: Natural, Not Awkward

This is the part everyone worries about—and it ends up being their favourite.

I don’t do stiff posing. Instead, I’ll guide you in a way that feels natural, so you can actually relax and enjoy a bit of time together.

Think:

Walking, talking, laughing

Little prompts instead of forced poses

Space to just be yourselves

And yes… we’ll aim for that soft, golden-hour light if we can. To ensure maximum opportunity, I do recommend booking in 2 couple portrait sessions for around 20 minutes each to keep in mind our great British weather, sunset opportunities and to add another dimension to your final gallery.

The Evening: Real Moments, Real Energy

From speeches to the dance floor, I’m capturing everything as it unfolds:

The big laughs, the tears, the chaos

Your friends absolutely going for it on the dance floor

This is where some of the most unexpected moments happen—and they’re always worth it.

After the Wedding: Where the Magic Comes Together

Once the day’s over, the work doesn’t stop for me!

Every image is carefully selected and edited in my natural, timeless style—true to colour and true to you. I keep editing simple, so your photos remain an accurate, lasting representation of your day. I won't be making any Photoshop requests to alter any body shapes! (I get asked this at every wedding from someone!)

You’re not getting hundreds of random photos. You’re getting a curated gallery that tells the full story of your day.

After you have received your final gallery, we can discuss the option of prints/album.

If you have booked The Archive (full day), then an album is included so we will remain in contact until you have chosen your highlights and the album has been safely delivered.
